Plug and play

You should be able to set up your device manager so that it spawns a relabsd virtual device whenever you plug in the relevant physical device (see for example this page if you are using (e)udev). The relabsd instance will automatically close if it cannot read from the physical device, so unplugging the physical device will terminate it.
