Technical Details about the CleanOps Patch

This part of the wiki explains some technical details about the CleanOps Patch. If you have any further questions, ask us on our Discord.

General Information

Purpose of the Patch

The CleanOps T7 Patch was created to enable everyone to safely play Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It addresses a variety of issues, including game stability, security, and privacy. A custom anti-cheat system is also in place to combat cheaters.

Key Features Explained

IP-Spoofing

  • Protects players from potential targeted attacks by masking their real IP addresses.
  • Minimizes the risk of DoS attacks or other network-based exploits.

You will need to have your Protections Settings set to either "Friends Only" or "Everyone" for your friends to be able to join your party, as the game requires the real IP address for this action. You can switch that back to your previous Setting once you reach your desired Party Size.

Although when Advanced IP-Spoofing is enabled, partying up with other players does not work.

Exploit Patching

  • Addresses many well-known exploits, including those used to crash or kick players, or gain unfair advantages during gameplay.
  • Enhances the overall stability and security of the game.

Automatic Cheater Removal

  • Integrates a database of identified cheaters.
  • Automatically disconnects cheaters in the database when they join a server.
  • Ensures an immediate improvement in the quality of matches.

Performance Fixes

  • Optimizes frame rates to address issues causing FPS drops, by disabling constant Steam DLC-Checks.

Server Browser

  • Provides a convenient in-game tool for finding active servers.
  • Supports filtering by region and shows server details and player count for a seamless match-finding experience.

Report System

  • Allows players to report suspected cheaters directly through the CleanOps UI.
  • Reports include information about the current session, the SteamID64 of the reported player, and the reporter.
  • Reports are reviewed by moderators and administrators to be added to the cheater database.

Development Philosophy

Why This Patch Exists

The CleanOps T7 Patch was born out of frustration with the current state of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer. Between cheaters ruining games and outdated exploits causing headaches, the goal was simple: bring the game back to life for players who want a fair and fun experience. This patch is about protecting the community, enhancing performance, and ensuring that the game remains playable for years to come.

Compatibility and Limitations

Compatibility with Other Mods

This patch is a standalone solution and includes all the security features from the original t7patch—plus additional improvements. Because of this, it conflicts with the original t7patch and similar mods.

Known Limitations

While the patch is designed to enhance your experience, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • If a cheater gets kicked by CleanOps, they might retaliate by crashing the session. Unfortunately, this is a possibility when dealing with bad actors in the community.
  • The patch is exclusively available for Windows, with no plans to extend support to Linux or other operating systems in the foreseeable future.

Ethical Use of the Patch

Preventing Misuse

The patch is designed to prevent individual users from abusing any features or exploits. All actions—like kicking cheaters—are handled through a secure database. This ensures that no single player can weaponize the patch to target others unfairly.

Privacy

  • CleanOps T7 does not collect any user-specific information besides the user's SteamID64.
