About Village Hero+
Village Hero+ aims to make villagers show their appreciation a bit more when you defeat a raid by updating the villager gift loot tables. Each profession has a roughly 0.5% chance of dropping a rare item, such as a block of ancient debris, enchanted golden apple or even a luck potion--which you can use for a chance at more gifts!
Some notes:
- Bundles must be enabled if you're using Minecraft 1.21.1 or older, as they are part of the leatherworker's loot table.
- There is a 0.5% chance that a villager will give you a rare gift. For villagers that offer multiple rare gifts, like the armorer, there is a 0.5% chance that you will receive one of the gifts. For example, the armorer's rare gifts are an elytra or Silence armor trim; you have a 0.5% chance of receiving one of those two, but only a 0.25% chance of receiving an elytra.
- The rare gifts from the butcher and leatherworker are luck potions, and the fletcher has a chance of giving arrows of luck. With this data pack, luck increases the chance of bonus rolls for additional gifts while a user has the Hero of the Village status.
- The versions for 1.21.2+ include location-based loot tables for unemployed and baby villagers.
- Limited support for location-based gifts from villagers in non-vanilla biomes like those from Terralith, William Wythers Expanded Ecosphere and Cliff Under a Tree is included in the pack.
- Gifts are limited to items available in vanilla.
- In 1.19-1.21.1, baby villagers will give poppies.
- Nitwits still give seeds.

Guidelines for gifts
I am always happy to receive suggestions for gifts! Here are the rough guidelines I use to determine whether a gift should be included in the loot table, as well as the chance a player will receive it:
- Block or item should be obtainable in survival. Right now, luck potions and arrows of luck are the exceptions. I'm on the fence about reinforced deepslate because it can't be mined.
- Finished products are preferred over "raw" states, e.g. cooked meats, polished block variants.
- Avoid duplicating gifts among villagers, with a few exceptions.
- No booby traps (e.g. infested blocks) -- the villagers are grateful you saved them!
- Gifts should somehow reflect the villager's profession. It would not make sense, for example, for a farmer to give a trident.
- Baby villagers give small things they might pick up around the village -- flowers, seeds, sticks, etc. Occasionally one might give you their favorite doll (a totem of undying).
- Unemployed villagers give you items they own, found or made, like soup, bowls, sand, etc. Their rare gift is an emerald -- they are paying you for a job well done.
- Loot tables are weighted based on several factors:
- Usefulness
- Rarity in actual gameplay (rarer items have a lower chance of dropping)
- Official Minecraft rarity
- Stack size (items that stack are generally preferred over those that don't)
