How to Robot - northern-bites/nbites GitHub Wiki

##Turning the robot on:

  1. Check to see if the robot has a battery. This can be done by gently putting a screwdriver or some long item in the hole on the back. Please be extra careful and don't electrocute yourself or hurt the robot.

  2. Sit the robot in a stable position. This means the robot's arms are at their side, not on their lap. Also, the robot's knees should be touching their feet. No flying knees and no monkey position! Before moving onto the next step the robot should be sitting comfortably without falling over.

  3. With your hand on the robot for stability, press the chest button until it lights up. The robot is now on!

  4. Once the robot stands up, HOLD ONTO THE ROBOT and set it down gently with two chest button presses. The robot will not set itself down so you will need to guide it down! The robot will fall if you are not holding onto it. If you are confused, ask one of the members to help you. If you do this wrong you will hurt the robot.

#Checking to see if the robot is ready: 5. Sometimes the robot does not stand up, if this is the case then go to your computer, connect to the wifi network named Robotics and go to the Terminal application. Then type ping . This will tell you if the robot is still turning on. If the terminal is saying something like "Request timeout for icmp_seq #" then the robot is still turning on. If your output looks something like "64 bytes from 139.140.192.22: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=281.372 ms" then your robot is ready to go!

Now your robot is on! Proceed to the installation phase.
