Pteraxii Datasheet Changes - normanthesquid/wh40k-fundapocalypse GitHub Wiki

The Pteraxii datasheets were built using Skitarii Vanguard and Swooping Hawks as examples.

The base profile was built from the Vanguard profile. We gave them 2x the wounds, increased their movement to 12", and increased their weapon skill to 3+ to match 9e.

We made Soar Away by just copy/pasting Skyleap from Swooping Hawks.

Thermal Riders is equivalent to Deep Strike.

For PL, we reused the 9e PL for 5 models, since Vanguard also have the same PL in 9e and Apocalypse. The PL for 10 models is set to 70, since they have the Soar Away ability and the deep strike tax is only paid once: 3 + 3 + 1. Swooping Hawks don't follow this pattern for some reason - they are 6/12 for 5/10 models, which doesnt make the most sense given their statlines. shrug.

The Pteraxii Talons are roughly equivalent to Intercessor melees - 2 attacks per model at S4, so we reused the Close Combat Weapons profile from the Intercessor Squad datasheet.

Pteraxii Sterylizors

The Sterylizors melee weapon should be stronger than the Skystalkers, but it's only +1 AP, unless charging. we decided to just keep things simple and use the same profile for both.

We used the Aggressor profile as the base for the Phosphor Torches. Since the Aggressors have 6 gauntlets modeled as 1 attack x3, we decided to directly reuse the profile here, since we are modeling 5 torches.

Pteraxii Skystalkers

The Skystalkers melee weapon should be weaker than the Sterylizors. We decided to just keep things simple and use the same profile for both.

The Flechette Carbines are 24" Assault 5. Skitarii Vanguard Radium Carbines are 18" Assault 3. We will reuse the Radium Carbine profile and change the attacks to x5, which is awesome. The Carbines don't appear to get any benefit from the extra damage they are supposed to do on 6's, which probably needs to be addressed if we decide to address Tesla weapon profile imbalance.

The Swooping Grenade Pack ability is very similar to Arc Grenade Cluster, not on the datasheet in Apocalypse. We looked around for another similar ability, and found the AX39 Sun Shark Bomber. It is very close: the Pulse Bombs ability is 1d6 for every model and does a mortal on 5+, or 4+ for infantry. The Arc Grenade Cluster is 1d6 for every model, mortals on 5+, or 3+ if it is a vehicle. The Pulse Bombs in apocalypse is 3d6, -1 if its a character, adding 1 if it is infantry, getting blast markers on 4+. We decided to make Arc Grenades 3d6, -1 if its a character, adding 2 if it is a Vehicle, getting blast markers on 4+.

It is unclear why Swooping Hawks don't get their grenade packs. There are a lot of similar abilities that do exist in Apocalypse.
