Heavy Intercessor Squad Datasheet Changes - normanthesquid/wh40k-fundapocalypse GitHub Wiki

The Heavy Intercessor Squad datasheet was created by comparing the Intercessor datasheet and the Aggressor Datasheet.

Heavy Intercessor Squad Profile

WS, BS, A, and Ld match the Intercessor Squad Profile M is set to 5" to match 9e S is set to 5+ to match other MK X Gravis models W is increased compared to the Intercessor Squad Profile - 3/6 instead of 2/4. Since Aggressors are 3 model units with 2/4, 3/6 seemed like the right spot PL is increased compared to the Intercessor Squad Profile - 8/16 instead of 6/12. This might be a little high for Apocalypse, but in 9e the Heavy Intercessor Squad is 2 PL more than the Intercessor Squad, so shrug The Close Combat Weapons profile is reused from the Intercessor Squad Profile

Heavy Bolt Rifles

We chose to follow the example set for the Intercessor Squad - instead of having the 3 options for the different rifle types, we just used the "default" rifle. That means the Heavy Bolt Rifle gets a 36" range.

The Heavy Bolt Rifle profile should have higher strength than the Bolt Rifle profile, since it has 1 more point of strength in 9e, but when comparing the different bolter profiles, we realized something: The Bolt Rifle profile on the Intercessor Squad datasheet is stupid good. Here it is compared to other similar profiles:

Weapon 9e S 9e AP SAP SAT
Intercessor Melee 4 0 7+ 9+
Boltguns 4 0 7+ 9+
Special Issue Boltgun (Sternguard) 4 -2 6+ 9+
Bolt Rifle 4 -1 5+ 8+
Heavy Bolt Rifle 5 -1 ?? ??

The most confusing part of this is the Sternguard boltguns - they have one more point of AP in 9e, but somehow are worse SAP and SAT in Apocalypse.

In the end, we decided to just use the Bolt Rifle profile for the Heavy Bolt Rifle, and just give it a 36" range. Giving it either a 4+ SAP or a 7+ SAT just seemed too good. The only other option would be to rebalance all of these guns, which we are not interested in doing at this time.
