Assembly Instructions - norfolkjs/motorized-sumobot GitHub Wiki

These instructions assume that your Sumobot Kit includes the following components:

  • 1 Arduino Uno
  • 1 Motor Shield (AdaFruit V1 or clone)
  • A SumoBot Chassis
    • 2 side panels
    • 1 top panel
    • 1 bottom panel
    • 1 front plate
  • 2 hobby motors
  • 2 rubber wheels
  • 1 9v battery (Adults only)
  • 1 9v battery clip (Adults only)
  • 6 3/8" screws
  • 4 1" bolts
  • 4 3/8" nuts
  • 1 5/8" ball bearing
  • 1 plastic ball bearing holder
  • 4 M-F Lead Wires

Instructions:

  1. Mount the ball bearing holder to the bottom plate using two of the included 3/8" screws. Insert the 5/8" ball bearing into the ball bearing holder.

  2. Mount the Motor Shield to the Arduino by matching the headers extending from the bottom of the shield to the stackable headers on the Arduino.

  3. Mount a motor to the inside of each side panel using 2 1" bolts and 2 3/8" nuts.

  4. Assemble the chassis by inserting the tabs of the top and bottom panel into the slots of the side panels. Attach the front plate by inserting the tabs of the side plates into the slots of the front panel

  5. Carefully attach the wheels to each motor

  6. Wire your motors to the motor shield and power the Arduino Uno (See wiring diagram).

  7. (Adults only) Insert the battery into cavity of the chassis and move towards the front of the bot. Mounting the battery last helps prevent any accidental puncturing of the battery.
