Laser Tag Season One Rules

How does the League work?

The Laser Tag League has two parts. The Teams established will initially face-off in matches on the two different playable maps. After a two month time period the top four teams with the most wins will advance into a double knockout elimination tournament. The winner of the tournament will be top laser tag team of the first season!

The teams will be able to schedule their own matches with another team during the two month time period. Teams are not required to challenge every team in the league to a match, however Teams are required to accept every challenge they receive.

The Laser Tag League will officially start January 5th

No additional Teams can be established after this date. No additional Players will be allowed to join or switch teams after this date.

The final tournament for League will begin March 1st

How does a Match work?

Matches will be best of three total rounds.

A team will challenge another team in the League to an official match. The defending team must accept the challenge. Both teams must work with any Official to decide a match date and time. An Official must be present as a spectator during the match.

Match-ups must be scheduled to take place within one week of the challenge without exception. Once a defending team has been challenged they cannot be forced to accept an additional challenge until the first match takes place (however the defending team can accept additional challenges).

A team will only be able to play a match against another team once for each playable map: Cyber Junk City (CJC) and Hangar. A list of what matches have been played/need to be played will be in the #leaguestatus channel.

All matches are required to be 4v4.

Shorthanded teams will not be allowed. Teams that don't meet the minimum amount of players will be forced to either reschedule or forfeit.

  1. Rescheduling: Both teams and an Official must agree to a rescheduled match. All rescheduled matches must be played within two days of the originally scheduled match. In order to request a rescheduled match it must be requested at least two days (48 hours) before the original match time. No Exceptions.

  2. Forfeit: If the full team does not agree to a rematch, the shorthanded team will be forced to forfeit the match. If both teams are shorthanded and cannot reschedule, both teams will be forced to forfeit.

At the end of each round in a match, any two players must submit a screenshot of the scoreboard to rec.net (via the in-game camera) or show video recorded proof to an Official to verify the round score. One screenshot uploaded by an Official is sufficient. Unverifiable rounds must be replayed without exception.

How do I Join/Create a Team?

Teams are to have a maximum of 6 players and a minimum of 4 players to take part of official matchups.

To become a Captain of a team, message a League Official/Admin. You must have at least one additional member in order to start a new team.

New members of the league can join existing teams from the #team-roles channel. Additional teams will no longer be able to be created and new member will no longer able to join existing teams after Dec 31st.

New members can post a little bit about themselves in #looking-for-team to potentially be picked up by another Captain or ask to join a specific team.

There are plans for some type of draft-like system in future seasons to encourage new friendships and distribution of skill for all teams.

What is / Is not allowed?

  1. The league is mixed locomotion (Teleport and Walking welcome)

  2. There is no limit on the amount a player can use a particular weapon or item. This means players are permitted to use the grenade/railgun/shotgun as much as they’d like. These are competitive matches and players are encouraged to use every in-game resource to win.

  3. Spawn killing will be tolerated. Again, these are competitive matches and competitive players are less likely to get spawn killed. We want to see who can be the best with the tools and environment provided.

  4. Stepping through or shooting through walls/objects will not be permitted. We understand clipping can happen by accident sometimes and if an action of this nature occurs during play a League Official will be responsible for determining the outcome. If players abuse this, the team may be disqualified.

  5. If bugs, glitches, or extraordinary instances occur during matchups, League Officials will be responsible for determining winners, rematches, and/or the correct course of action.

  6. Some lag is reasonable, but players should make a best effort to be on a connection that still allows skill to be a factor. If you have extreme latency or your connection is consistently freezing, please find an alternate before the match. It is up to the League Official's discretion if your connection is disruptive to the match. If you are unsure if your connection would be an issue, please ask the League Officials to observe you well in advance of a match.

  7. Using applications like "Advanced Settings" to cheat will not be tolerated. Players cheating will be disqualify the entire team.

  8. Players must set their playspace so their hands cannot go under the floor in-game. Each player must be able to have their controllers dragged across the ground of their playspace without having the hands clip through a level RecRoom floor.

  9. Players must not be blocked from each other in-game. Outside of a matchup you are allowed to reblock players as you see fit. Players should mute their own microphones in-game and use Discord to communicate to each other instead. Players are allowed to speak in-game however it can be a disadvantage.

  10. In the event of a tied score in a round, an additional round will be replayed to determine a victor.

  11. In the event of disconnection from a player, the remaining players can continue. The disconnected player should try to reconnect, or a reserve player. The round will be ruled upon by an Official on the match validity at that time.
