I think what'd be easiest is:

Open-bottom channel that fits around the strip
Slots for led strip hooks to hook through both the strip and the diffuser(s). Keeps the diffuser tied down, but don't need bottom. Don't want glue if we can get away with it.
Are there any 3D printing issues?
What height/width does Christopher want? Just simple cylindrical pyramids?
