Noisedeck Overview

Noisedeck is a virtual console for mixing visual noise. It uses a simple layout which loosely resembles a DJ mixer. You can use a single synth module for input or mix two modules together, and optionally apply post-processing effects.

Noisedeck was originally designed to create generative art, but has since expanded to become a more general purpose tool.

Workflow

The recommended usage is to find a preset you like, or to smack the randomizer buttons. Once you have something interesting, fine-tune the parameters from there. You really can't hurt anything by experimenting, so experiment away!

Controls

Noisedeck has three types of controls:

  • Global - these controls are on the main control bar at the top left and affect all the modules
  • Per-module - these controls are on the title bar of each module and affect only that module
  • Per-setting - these controls are next to the individual module settings and affect only that setting

Presets

Noisedeck has the ability to save and load presets.

Settings

Pro users are able to customize Noisedeck with a variety of settings, including the resolution of the output, the length and framerate of recorded animations, and the enabling and disabling of features.

Modules

Noisedeck has three types of modules:

  • Synthesizers or synths - these are the noise inputs
  • Mixers - these combine the two noise inputs
  • Post-processing - these apply effects to the mixed inputs

Audio

Audio input is in early beta.
