This is a special event. It is our 2nd year anniversary as well as International NodeSchool Day 2017. We should try to expose more people to this event by working closer with brands and other communities. We rarely push our events out to wider audiences and I think we should take a more proactive approach.

Goals

• Have a fun event + learn (as usual)
• Expose Node.js to a wider audience
• Celebrate our 2nd anniversary
• Give back to our community

Sponsors

• Lighthouse has a food/event budget and asked if we’d like them to help provide snacks/pizza etc.
• IBM has reached out asking how they can support this (we could ask for stickers/swag/money etc.)
• GitHub Toronto rep has reached out and I think we can get them to provide some stickers/swag
• Microsoft reps can be reached out to (as I know a number of us are close with them, and I’m also on their web TAG team) and might provide some stickers/swag/money etc.
• Shopify has already been a sponsor for the longest time (our coffee + timbit game has always been strong <3)
• PayPal has some node initiatives and I could reach out to my brother-in-law about providing some stuff
• TELUS digital is willing to contribute here (stickers/swag/money etc.)
• I’m down to beg/borrow/steal from any other brands/organizations willing to give us anything

Ideas

• We should get some special stickers made for international nodeschool day and also create a “speaker” sticker for anyone in the future that does a demo or talk
• We should get a cake or some other kind of treat
• Dollarstore balloons?
