Sample Schedule

This worked for me in Denton Texas:

1:30p -> 3:30p.
(More than two hours is too much for me to host. This let's people show up a little late if they need to)

General Tips

  • People show up late. People RSVP and don't show. People show and don't RSVP. Don't take it personally :-)
  • If you can, re-arrange tables in triangles. This makes a group feeling without putting people in opposition.
  • People who already know programming will probably want to work independently.
  • If you have <=4 people, just make an agreement to ask questions if they come up. Work with newbies one-on-one.
  • (I haven't had a chance to try this yet) If you have more than one "new coder" buddy them up. This works in SCUBA diving, sky diving, trekking, etc. Working on something new and scary alone is suffering. Having a buddy feels safer and is more fun.
