What Is Covid-19
The name Coronavirus is not the same as Covid-19, Coronavirus is a large family of viruses. They cause sickness from colds to SARS. Some Coronaviruses are very contagious and transmit easily while others don't.
Covid-19 was globally introduced on December 31, 2019, when a large number of cases of pneumonia were reported in Wuhan, China. Shortly after it was confirmed that a new coronavirus has been identified in humans, known as COVID-19 (previously called the 2019 Novel Coronavirus). We still do not know the true severity of the illness. The amount of new confirmed cases lead to global fear within our community as they have identified COVID-19 in many countries and the current situation is evolving.
For Year 9 design, the teachers have decided that for the current C/D criteria that we would make a COVID-19 dashboard by using Python, HTML5, and leaflet.
Where we get our Data
For our data, Noah and I used (https://github.com/CSSEGISandData/COVID-19/blob/master/csse_covid_19_data/csse_covid_19_daily_reports/04-25-2020.csv).
This is the most recent data that get updated daily by John Hopkins Univerity.
Inspiration
We really enjoy this Tracker as it is very ascetically pleasing with the blue and black background making you focus ur attention on the map, the Total Confirmed, the Confirmed Cases by Country/Region/Sovereignty, and the graph because of its red font. It makes it very easy to see and most importantly it makes it very easy to read the information. It is a clear and concise track with many added benefits to it such as COV-19 basics and videos. This is made by the people of the John Hopkins medical department making it a credible source. You can zoom in to ur address or area and see how many people there are. This Tracker is also a great research point as it tells you everything you need to know like what is the corona, the country with the most cases, total deaths, total recovered. This is accessible with the public on google so it makes it easier to find.
