Soldering issues - nlimper/Mini-AP-v4 GitHub Wiki
After shipping out the first batch of the Mini AP v4, it turned out that some of the devices have a soldering defect. Although the AP's were tested during build time, the defects only show up after a few days of use. You can mainly recognise this because the AP will suddenly become unresponsive, or show a 'failed' state. Of course I'm very sorry for this.
To fix the issue, there are some possible solutions, to your choice:
The quickest solution: If you are able and comfortable using a soldering iron, you can do a quick touch up on the connections of the two ESP32-modules. The case can be opened using the two little slots at the short side. Reheat the pads one by one, to let the solder flow. You need a soldering iron with a fine tip for this. If you accidentally connect two pads, you can remove the soldering bridge using soldering wick.
In case you're not able to use a soldering iron, you can return the access point, and I will send you a new one without the defect. Send me an email to nic at xs4all.nl
, and please include your Tindie order number so I can keep track of things.
