Exploration - njthomson/SrvSurvey GitHub Wiki
SrvSurvey tracks a few stats on the main window, letting you know how far you've traveled, an estimate for your exploration data, and how many bodies you've scanned, DSS'd and landed upon along the way.
It also has a number of overlays to help explorers out in the black:
- Body Info - displays information about a target body.
- Extended FSS Info - shows data about bodies detected during FSS scans, in the order they are discovered.
- Galaxy Map Preview - displays minimal information from EDSM about the next hop and final destination.
- FSD Jump Info - shows extended information about the next system when FSD jumping.
Body Info
Shows a concise summary about the current body. Appears in the top-left when the current destination is a body in the current system or some POI on a body. It will be visible when in the System Map, when DSS'ing a body or when in super-cruise or orbital-glide around a body.
This overlay can be disabled by clearing setting "Show body information panel"
There are 3 further settings:
- Show/hide in System map
- Show/hide when in orbit around a body
- Hide when within 200ly of Sol. As this is primarily an exploration feature, it can be tiresome to keep seeing it when flitting around inside the bubble. Use this setting to make it stay hidden unless out in the black.
Extended FSS Info
Appears top-left when FSS'ing a system, augmenting the existing top-center overlay. Shown in the order they are discovered, this overlay shows:
- The body type and short name.
- An estimate for the current scan value, plus the value if DSS'd (including the 10% efficiency).
- How many bio signals are present.
- Bodies "first discovered" are marked with a
*
prefix. - Terraformable bodies are marked with
T
- Land-able bodies are marked with an
L
A count of bodies scanned and total system estimate is shown topmost.
This overlay can be disabled by clearing setting "Show exploration values list".
Bodies with a potential scan value under 10k credits are automatically hidden, unless they have bio signals. Bodies with a scan value above the setting "skip bodies with estimated value" will be highlighted.
Galaxy Map Preview
Appears top-left when in the Galaxy Map, showing the following for the target destination and next hop of a route:
- System name
- If undiscovered according to EDSM.net, or how many bodies, the date and cmdr name who first discovered it
- If known, how many genus are present
This overlay can be disabled by clearing setting "Show exploration preview in Galaxy Map". This relies on external data and will not appear if setting "Download star system, bodies and organic signals data from EDSM, Spansh and Canonn" is disabled.
FSD Jump Info
Appears when charging the FSD for hyper-space and remains until you arrive at the next system. It shows graphical progress against your current route, highlighting scoopable stars and neutron jumps.
If discovered according to EDSM.net, the date/cmdr name and a summary of recent traffic will be shown. A count of bio signals and various ports will be shown if known.
This overlay can be disabled by clearing setting "Show next system summary before FSD jumping". This relies on external data and will not appear if setting "Download star system, bodies and organic signals data from EDSM, Spansh and Canonn" is disabled.
