Modes - nimh-nif/SCNI_Toolbar GitHub Wiki
On the SCNI Toolbar, 'modes' are states that the experimental control system can enter or exit. All mode buttons on the toolbar are therefore toggle buttons that can be pressed to activate and unpressed to deactivate. Modes can only be changed when the experiment is paused or stopped - not while an experiment is running. Full descriptions of the available modes are provided below.
Training
This mode is used to acclimatize naive subjects to the distracting sounds of an MRI scanner. In this mode, an audio recording of an EPI sequence from an fMRI scan begins playback when an experimental run is started.
Time out
This mode is used to give a subject a break from the task and the visual display by turning the entire display black. Rather than flashing off/on, the luminance of the display is gradually ramped down/up, thus giving the subject's eyes time to adjust between rest and work states.
Debug
This mode allows more diagnostic information about code performance to be printed to the Matlab command line. Since printing large quantities of text to the command line can be costly in terms of temporal performance, this mode should not be used during real data acquisition.
Stereoscopic
This mode switches to whichever stereoscopic 3D presentation mode has been specified by Display Settings or within the currently running experiment.
Virtual Reality
This mode switches to immersive 180 degree presentation for virtual reality environments such as head-mounted displays (e.g. Oculus Rift) or hemispheric projection domes.
