Q1. Analytical Thinking

The problem:

  • In our project to redesign the Comox Toy Library website, a complex issue arose during the initial stages: determining the most compatible and cost-effective version of the development framework. The challenge was to select a technology that aligns with the Toy Library's current needs while ensuring scalability and minimal future maintenance costs.

The process:

  • To address this challenge, I initiated a thorough project analysis. I broke down the problem into components: current requirements, expected future growth, and potential development frameworks. We conducted a detailed needs assessment with the Toy Library team to understand their existing workflows and future goals. Simultaneously, I extensively researched various development frameworks, considering factors such as ease of use, community support, and long-term costs.

Who was involved:

  • The project team included developers, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders from the Comox Toy Library. Collaboration with the Toy Library staff was crucial to understanding their operational nuances and gathering essential input for the new website.

The outcome:

  • The analysis led us to choose a development framework that balances current needs and future scalability. We presented our findings to the Toy Library team, providing a clear rationale for our choice. The selected framework met their current requirements and ensured a cost-effective solution with minimal long-term maintenance overhead.

What could have been done better:

  • Looking back, a more iterative approach to decision-making could have been beneficial. While our choice proved effective, incorporating more feedback loops with the Toy Library team throughout the decision-making process might have provided additional insights. In future projects, I aim to enhance communication channels to ensure stakeholders are continuously involved in critical decisions, fostering a more collaborative and informed decision-making environment.
