Access Record: HTML and Appointment Management assurance - nhsconnect/gpc-consumer-support GitHub Wiki

The assurance process for Access Record: HTML and Appointment Management comprises 3 gates:

Gate 1

Gate 1 entry criteria:

  • must have a developed product ready that is ready to integrate
  • must be meeting the clinical safety prerequisite
  • must be able to meet the IG prerequisite

The internet-facing demonstrator (or Orange Test Lab) is a basic environment that gives consumers the ability to test the GP Connect APIs only. It does not include any of the Spine capabilities (SDS/PDS/LDAP).

The aim of this stage is to allow the consumer to integrate their product with the GP Connect API and ensure that the API requests and responses can be presented successfully.

There is no authentication required for this environment and it is accessible via the internet - GP Connect demonstrator and developer tools.

Around 70% of the conformance requirements in the SCAL can be met at Gate 1 and evidence from this environment will need to be submitted to support these requirements. Sign-off by NHS England subject matter experts (SMEs) will be required before you can progress to the next gate.

Test scripts

Refer to the links in assurance overview or the SCAL for the test scripts.

Gate 2

Gate 2 entry criteria:

  • successful completion of Gate 1
  • HSCN connection
  • consumer system topology has been decided to enable INT setup (see Assurance process overview).
  • PDS compliance is complete or is available in INT for testing

The INT environment allows consumers to complete full end-to-end testing of their product and validation of the GP Connect requirements.

To enter this environment, consumers need to have a minimum viable product and the setup allows consumers to carry out a full endpoint registration, as it will be in Live. You may already have access to INT from another NHS England integration. If this is the case your product can be updated with the relevant GP Connect interactions.

Setup is managed by the NHS England Platforms team. Find out more at Integration environments.

We also have some guidance notes on how to get INT set up

Similar to the other gates, there are conformance requirements in the SCAL that you need to meet at Gate 2, and you should submit evidence from this environment to support these requirements. We require sign-off by NHS England subject matter experts (SMEs) before you can progress to the next gate.

Gate 3

Gate 3 entry criteria:

  • successful completion of Gate 2
  • Solutions Assurance to provide provider test data

The purpose of Gate 3 is to allow consumers to interact directly with the GP Connect providers in an environment that they have provisioned which reflects the live environment and the validation rules each provider has implemented.

Testing takes place in the INT environment so there is no additional setup required. Additional test data will be provided by Solutions Assurance to allow for this testing.

There are unlikely to be any requirements left in the SCAL to meet at this point unless some are carried over from a previous gate.

To exit this gate, we require an email statement confirming that testing has taken place with all provider systems in INT and no issues have been found.

Technical conformance

When your SCAL has been approved, NHS England's Solutions Assurance team will create and issue a technical conformance certificate that finalises the assurance process.

The technical conformance certificate gives you the approval to deploy your consumer product into Live in conjunction with your end-user once a Connection Agreement and National Data Sharing Arrangement has been signed.

Information for community and social care consumers

Recent agreements have enabled new care settings to access a reduced view of the patient record via Access Record: HTML. Please see the guidance page for information on the areas in which specific care settings can be accessed and by which roles.
