Week 26 - ngetachew/Portfolio GitHub Wiki

This week we began by creating new wires in preparation for the new board. These wires are specially made because the ODrive board comes with connectors that are too big. The wires for these are considerably thicker than normal,so soldering them was no joke. Especially with the shoddiness of some of the soldering irons. There was only one station with a large tip, so me and one of my partners took turns using it.

Once we got the new board, we soldered the wires in and went through a lengthy process to make sure that the board was clean. However, the motors still don't work. We have a current saturation error. Although nobody is 100% sure what it means, there were plenty of forum posts about it, all of which had solutions that didn't work. This was another major roadblock because this error occurs during calibration, which is a vital step. I have a theory that the encoders are the source of the error because we've had problems with them before and one of the pins seems to look slightly melted. We shall see if this is the issue next week.
