Organizational structure
Maastricht University
Maastricht university (MU), as any university, consists of different faculties:
- Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS)
- Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML) ← You are here
- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN)
- Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE)
- School of Business and Economics (SBE)
We are members of Faculty of health, medicine and life sciences (FHML).
FHML consists of 6 different research schools:
- CAPHRI School, Care and Public Health Research Institute
- CARIM School for Cardiovascular Diseases
- GROW School for Oncology & Reproduction
- NUTRIM School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism
- SHE School of Health Professions Education

You are in the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNs). The research in MHeNs usually fits on this matrix:

MHeNs then consists of three different divisions, each with a different focus
- Division 1 - Cognitive Neuropsychiatry & Clinical neuroscience
- Division 2 - Mental Health

Maastricht Universitair Medisch Centrum (MUMC+)
Not only are you part of MU-FHML-MHeNS-DIVIII, you are also part of the neurosurgery department from the hospital (MUMC+). The old name of the hospital is Academisch ziekenhuis Maastricht (azM), which is the same as MUMC+.
Which affiliation to use?
Usually, we use following affiliation: "Department of neurosurgery, School for Mental Health and Neuroscience, Maastricht University". For internal registration you can often just use MHeNs, DIV 3.
If you have a joint position with another school or faculty, your affiliation may differ. Discuss with your supervisors either way.
In successfactors you can find a organogram as well, indicating your affiliation.
