Period Abroad - Visiting other research group
Visiting an international research group during your PhD can be a great experience. In general: everything is possible, but you have to do/arrange it yourself!
Advices in case you are interested in this: Plan this well. You want to start thinking about this, when your own project is running and you know what direction you will go with your PhD. But you also need time to wrap up your thesis in your final year. So, start in time to think about what you want and why, and discuss your thoughts with your colleagues/supervisors. Another reason to not start overthinking this too late, is the fact you need to apply for most grants 6, 12, or >12 months before the desired start of the internship!
Funding sources:
- Wil Weg - Search engine for scholarships and travel grants from Dutch organisations.
- ZonMW - Large Dutch governmental grants are rewarded via ZonMW. But they also have many smaller (travel) grants.
- YERUN - Maastricht University is part of a research netwerk of young universities, small travel grants are awarded yearly to visit other groups within the netwerk.
- Parkinson Vereniging - The Dutch Parkinson patients association rewards small travel grants for internships or courses abroad, unfortunately info is in Dutch.
- DrieLichten Foundation - Biomedical travel grant, again info in Dutch.
