Lab and Offices
Our lab is located on the 4th floor of the ISEC Building (room 470A): it is on the northeastern side of the atrium, opposite of the elevators. Prof. Ioannidis's office is also on the 4th floor, at room 414.
Mailing Lists
Beyond the usual SPIRAL mailing lists, DNAL students should also subscribe to:
Discovery Cluster Partitions
DNAL has restricted access to partitions ioannidis
and ioannidis2
on the Discovery Cluster, described here. If you are in Prof. Ioannidis's group, please request access to these queues when you submit your application.
Discovery Cluster Storage
DNAL has dedicated storage space on the Discovery Cluster located at /projects/DNAL
. This shared storage is available to all lab members with appropriate access permissions and is designed for collaborative research data and project files.
To request access to the /projects/DNAL
storage space:
- Follow the standard procedure outlined in the RC Getting Access guide
- Specifically request access to the
/projects/DNAL
directory in your application - Inform Prof. Ioannidis of your storage access request so he can approve your addition to the appropriate Unix group
You can verify your access by running the groups
command to confirm you've been added to the appropriate group.
This storage space should be used for active research data, shared datasets, and collaborative project files. For temporary computational work, continue to use your individual /scratch
space as outlined in the cluster documentation.
Google Cloud
Consult with Prof. Ioannidis on whether you will be conducting experiments on Google Cloud. If so, you will find information on how to access the cluster on the GCP wiki.
Vacation and Travel
If you plan to be away from the lab, either on vacation or work related travel (e.g., to attend a conference), complete all of the following steps:
- Email Prof. Ioannidis to inform him of your travel plans. Give sufficient notice (e.g., several weeks in advance) especially for absence longer than a day.
- After you have obtained approval, add your absence as an event in the Spiral Unavailability Calendar and invite both yourself and Prof. Ioannidis to the event.
- After you have created this event, send a courtesy email to all your collaborators (other SPIRAL members, external collaborators) to inform them of the your absence and its duration.
