Options > Application > Map and Scene

  • Set Basemap to "None" for faster display
  • Uncheck "Make newly added layers visible by default"

Options > Application > Raster and Imagery

  • Set the Maximum number of unique values to display with the highest number possible.
  • Set the "Proxy files" local to to the computer

Options > Application > Display

  • Set the local cache...locally on computer instead of a server.
  • Periodically clear the cache.

Customize Quick Access Toolbar

  • Click the down arrow at top left and add tools for quick access to'Quick Access Toolbar.'

Editing Tips:

  • Split Tool: Check the box "Allow splitting without a selection." Then, do the cut without selecting.
    • o Currently, there is NO Cut Polygon tool, like ArcMap has.

    The Work Around

    Essentially, have a line feature class in your editing session. Draw the line in that feature class . Use 'Finish Part' if multiple lines need added. Then, click 'Finish'. > Click on 'Split' tool in 'Edit' tab > Click on 'By Feature' tab > The lines should still be selected > Click on 'Target Features' tab > Select the polygon that needs the split > Click on the 'Split' button > The polygons should have Split

  • Reshape Tool: Check the box "Allow reshaping without a selection." Then, do the reshaping without selecting.
  • Verify that soils is the only editable (click on the pencil) layer in Contents.
    • Right click on the feature class > Click on 'Make this the only editable layer'
  • Verify snapping is checked on.
