Summary
The Elfin EW11/EW11A RS485 Modbus to WiFi connector is neat, cheap RS485 to WiFi converter.

Connections
To connect the device to your inverter, see the Modbus Wiring Guide, but you should first follow the setup steps below.
The device has a single ethernet port that provides power and serial communication, it is typically supplied with an ethernet cable that branches to a reset button and a 4 block connector which has two lines for power and two for data transfer (A & B lines). Power demand is 5v and not exceeding 1A so it can be powered using a USB power adapter or the USB port on the inverter (where available). Wiring for the connector can be seen below.
For my installation I used a spare USB A cable I had, removed the end, cut a length to use the signal wires from and used the rest to wire in the usb cable as a power supply. I wired the signal wires as in the guide linked above, connecting A & B to 3/4 on the Inverter COM port.
Setup
Prior to connecting the device to the inverter start by configuring it with your Wifi network. Connect a power supply and the device should start up (a green light will appear on the ethernet port) in access point (AP) mode. An open wifi network will appear, connect to this.
With your browser navigate to 10.10.100.254
- the default username and password is 'admin'.
Click System Settings:
You will need to update the mode to 'STA' to connect to your Wifi network, you can 'Scan' for your Wifi network on this page, once you've found it and setup the details save it.
You will probably need to restart the device after this before it will connect, the restart command can be accessed under the 'Other' tab:
Check the device has connected to your network and for ease of administration it may be worth assigning it a static IP address, you may also want to restrict its access to just the LAN and not the wider internet.
Configure the Communication Settings as follows:
Configure the Serial Settings as:
After this the device should be ready to be connected to the Inverter.
