Alain speaks about success being what you believe to be success and not what your current country, government, community, economic system deems as success. Angela goes into instilling grit into kids instead of focusing on talent and intelligence. Because at the end of the day the one that ends up being the best "" is the one that stuck with it. Carol stresses the idea of instilling in children, that they are not stuck where they are at regarding their IQ. Her research is focused on underprivileged children who don't have a hereditary history of good analytical work patterns, since their culture is not that of a materialist, but is old world and has different strengths that are not exactly marketable in our modern society. So she attempt to close the very wide gap that exists today that the Catholic Orphanages succeeded in closing in the 1800's, just making it her own. There are two tests you can take to assess your biases, and the other test is a self reflective test to see what you may need to work on regarding your interpersonal skills. Materialist is the modern paradigm we all operate under. For example instead of asking what it means when the moon is full, we don't much care the why anymore, we ask what is the scientific explanation for when the moon is full, let's break it down and figure out and tinker. We are fixated on a tiny spec, vs the other paradigm sees the picture as a whole.
