A high-level introduction for new & potential users.
This discusses various ways a user can extend & customize GUNNS for their needs without having to modify the core gunns/ repository. It is slightly outdated and still references ts-iss (TS-21’s SSTF sim). We’ll be replacing this document with up-to-date info in the Wiki….
This spreadsheet can help predict the total CPU load of a GUNNS network of a given type and size, for compiler optimiziation levels -g and -O2. Uses metrics collected from a single-thread Trick sim with a single network in it running on an Intel Xeon E5630 @ 2.53 GHz CPU….
NOTE that GunnShow is obsolete and has been replaced by the GunnsDraw tool.
This is a good user introduction to the circuit analysis methods at the core of GUNNS and how to use GunnShow to create networks. It’s presented specifically for electrical networks, but all of these concepts also apply to fluid & thermal networks. This material is also inside the GUNNS repository at gunns/gunnshow/docs/GsTrainingCourseMaterials/ElectTraining….
FluidNetworkTutorial.08.15.2013.pdf
NOTE that GunnShow is obsolete and has been replaced by the GunnsDraw tool.
This is an introduction to creating fluid networks in GunnShow. This material is also in the GUNNS repository at gunns/gunnshow/docs/GsTrainingCourseMaterials/FluidTraining.
Orion_Station_FN_TestCase_GUNNS.pdf
This is an early validation of a GUNNS fluid network against an equivalent Thermal Desktop/FLUINT model. The last page is a diagram of the modelled system.
This is an early validation of a GUNNS thermal aspect model of part of an Orion/MPCV capsule against the equivalent Thermal Desktop model. Note that GUNNS is referred to by its original name, Multi-Use Flow Network (MUFN).
PCS.Simulation.Validation.pptx
This is a presentation by Mike Moore of his validation of a GUNNS fluid network against data collected from actual hardware tests of an Orion/MPCV Pressure Control System (PCS).
This presents a comparison of GUNNS networks against equivalent physical RC circuit builds and NI Multisim COTS tool models. GUNNS compares very well against both real-world hardware data and Multisim. A few minor discrepancies and their workarounds are discussed. The document, source files and experiments data reside in the gunns-dev repo at: docs/electrical_validation….
