Release Notes for 4.90.3 (For future release) - n4af/TR4W GitHub Wiki

Some of the below work describes features in active development. This is a preliminary document

There are significant changes in this version of TR4W. Most importantly, the internal log file format has changed. This means your prior TR4W logs will need to be converted to be read or read with an older version.

When you first run the program and try to open an earlier program, you are prompted that the versions are inconsistent. You are then offered the option to update the log file format to the current version. This is provided for those that might use TR4W as a general logger. Note that once you convert, you will not be able to go back to the prior program. To protect against this issue. the log file is backed up before it is converted.

The reason for this change is to add extended mode support. This is a prelude to adding FT8 and FT4 support to allow WSJT-X to send messages directly into TR4W. You will notice that RST Sent and Received can now be negative numbers to allow accurate reports from WSJT-X.

Other changes include better import and export capabilities of ADIF files. The exchange strings are now sent int he file for logging to your regular general purpose logger. The STATE field is now included where relevant.

DX Cluster changes

If you set packet cluster in the config file (CTRL-J) but that server was not in the TRCLUSTERS.DAT file, the program did not connect to it. That now works. Note the file is not added to TRCLUSTERS.DAT but we do connect.
