We observe that the non-rounded approximation quickly spreads across the length simulated and increases in mean heteroplasmy at a much faster rate than the rounded simulation. To see the rounded approximation in better detail see the figure below.

Figure B.2: Evolution of a founder mutation in a system with NSS 3000 over time in a rounded system.

In this figure we see that mean heteroplasmy increases rapidly in the areas surrounding the origin of the founder mutation. The system does not run for a long enough time to observe a fixation probability.

Note that all of the animations are of mean heteroplasmy against distance in micrometres.
