Timeframe of the experiment

  • Show calendar or schedule?
    • Give start and end date of experiment in list view, box view, and expanded pop up view. Provide link to schedule calendar in expanded pop up view, possibly box view as well. We need to avoid people signing up for studies without actually being eligible for them.
  • Length of the experiment
    • Hours or minutes
      • Minutes - Most studies that I've seen in the halls are an hour or less. I'm sure some are longer than that, so these are the session lengths I think would be most common:
      • < 30 mins
      • 30-45 mins
      • 45-60 mins
      • 60-75 mins
      • 75-90 mins
      • 90+ mins
        • I think we should request the user to specify the length here, either as an Other: kind of category where you can submit your own value or have a caution flag ask them to clarify in the description.
    • Repeating or one time? Should repeating events show per session, total time or both?
      • One way to handle this is to create a binary variable for repeating or not. Display a repeat column that has checkmarks or something on the studies that require multiple visits, and the more in-depth views can have a field for number of visits required. I'm thinking we could use a checkbox that forces the researcher to provide more information when submitting a study that repeats, like the number of visits and how far apart they must be (days, weeks, etc.)

Payment

  • Monetary
    • Depending on the program funding the experiment, this is either done in cash or using WePay, a debit card system set up by Pitt.
  • Gift certificate?
    • Not super common, but not unheard of. I got an Amazon gift code from CMU for a study.
  • Other?
    • You betcha.
  • Value of payment should be a mandatory field that accepts $0 only if None, Other, or Course Credit is selected

    • Gift Certificate (Please Specify)
    • Course Credit
      • This is something the psych department does, not sure if it's something they do here for undergrads.
    • Other (Please Specify)
    • None // Real world sucks, kid.
