Experimentation
Objective: Increase the Available Range of Deliverable Items by 50%
Key Result 1: Establish Partnerships with 3 Different Commerce Businesses within the Target Cities
Experiment Plan:
- Identify Potential Partners: Conduct research to find three commerce businesses in the target cities that align with our delivery services.
- Initial Contact: Reach out to these identified businesses, expressing our interest in collaboration and assessing their willingness to partner.
- Partnership Proposals: Develop proposals that outline the benefits and terms of collaboration, emphasizing how it will expand the range of items for customers.
- Negotiation and Agreement: Engage with businesses to finalize mutually beneficial partnership agreements.
- Launch and Promotion: Collaboratively launch the partnership, promote it through marketing channels, and make the expanded range of items for customers.
- Feedback Collection: Gather customer feedback regarding their experience with the expanded range of items and the partnership.
- Performance Evaluation: Assess how these partnerships have impacted the variety of items, sales, and customer satisfaction.
Key Result 2: Implement an Online Feedback Mechanism to Gather Customer Preferences and Demands
Experiment Plan: Step 1: We will create a feedback mechanism, like a survey or feedback form, to gather customer preferences and demands for items in our delivery service.
Step 2: To ensure participation, we will promote the feedback mechanism through our website, email newsletters, and social media platforms.
Step 3: Once we start receiving customer feedback, we will carefully analyze it to identify preferences and demands. We will categorize the feedback based on product type or category.
Step 4: Using the analysis results, we will selectively choose items that align with what our customers want.
Step 5: We may explore partnerships with suppliers to acquire these selected items. Source them through channels.
Step 6: Once the new items are available for delivery, we will introduce them to our customers. Promote them as additions to our service.
Step 7: Throughout this process, we will continuously monitor sales. Gather customer feedback about their satisfaction with the added items. This ongoing assessment allows us to make improvements based on their experiences.
Objective: Beat the Fastest Real-world Drone Delivery Time of 2 minutes and 47 seconds
Key Result 1: Streamline Payload Handling for Efficiency
Experiment Plan: Payload Handling Analysis:
- Conduct a detailed analysis of the current payload handling process, including preparation, loading, and sorting.
- Identify Inefficiencies: Identify inefficiencies and time-consuming steps in the existing payload handling process.
- Process Simplification: Develop an efficient payload handling process that eliminates unnecessary steps and optimizes efficiency.
- Customer Involvement: Introduce a customer-centric approach by providing customers with delivery containers and encouraging them to load their payloads. By provide clear guidelines and instructions to customers on how to efficiently load their items into the provided containers.
- Simulated Testing: Simulate the efficient payload handling process in targeted cities to assess its effectiveness.
- Real-world Implementation: Implement the optimized payload handling process in real-world scenarios.
- Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the impact of the efficient payload handling process on the overall drone delivery time.
Key Result 2: Implement Real-time Monitoring for Performance Enhancement
Experiment Plan:
- Monitoring System Implementation: Develop and implement a real-time monitoring system to track drone movements and performance.
- Data Collection: Collect real-time data during drone deliveries, including speed, altitude, and potential issues.
- Inconsistency Detection: Implement Inconsistency detection algorithms to identify and address issues affecting delivery times.
- Continuous Monitoring: Continuously monitor drone performance and collect data for ongoing analysis and future flight automation.
- Performance Improvement Strategies: Develop strategies to address identified issues and improve overall drone performance.
- Delivery Time Measurement: Measure delivery times with the enhanced monitoring system in place.
- Performance Assessment: Assess the impact of real-time monitoring on identifying and addressing issues affecting delivery speed.
Objective: Increase number of deliveries by 20%
Key Result 1: Acquire more clients
Experiment Plan: Launching a focused client acquisition campaign targeting specific demographics and market channels will increase the number of service clients, and subsequently, the number of deliveries.
- Define the characteristics of target audience, such as location and frequency of deliveries, and derive experimental groups based on characteristics.
- Utilize online and traditional advertising to acquire 20 clients for each characteristic group.
- Compare number of deliveries between groups.
Following the experiment, focus future marketing to those with the characteristics of the highest delivery group.
Key Result 2: Increase the speed and capacity of drones
Experiment Plan: Increasing the overall drone speed and payload weight capacity will allow for a greater number of deliveries.
- Create a focus group in which modifications that enhance drone carrying capacity are improved, and a focus group in which modifications that enhance drone speed are improved.
- Conduct several real-world performance tests in which the number of deliveries amongst the focus groups is measured across the same amount of time to account for differences in service traffic.
- Using the averages of the performance tests, determine whether speed or capacity improvements have a greater impact on number of deliveries.
Following the experiment, direct focus of hardware design enhancements towards the group with the greater number of deliveries.
Key Results 3: Increase the number of drones
Experiment Plan: Increasing the number of drones available to carry out deliveries will increase the speed and number of deliveries, as long as there are deliveries that can be made. Once all of the available deliveries are complete, the number and speed will not increase, since there will be nothing for additional drones to do.
- Evaluate the present average number of deliveries per day compared to the present average number of drones available in a designated area to establish a baseline rate.
- Incrementally incorporate a greater number of drones in area, and closely analyze the rate of deliveries per day.
- When the rate of deliveries no longer displays an upwards trajectory, cease drone incorporation.
If the number of available deliveries increases in the future, repeat this experiment to reassess the asymptote of number of drones to number of deliveries.
Priorities
There are possible benefits to consider for each experiment. Increasing the range of deliverable items would increase the versatility of the service, making it attractive to a larger audience and creating opportunities in different markets. Beating the fastest real-world drone delivery time would generate publicity and increase the reliability of our service. Increasing the total number of deliveries would directly increase profits and our market value. With all this in mind, we believe that the experiment that involves increasing the range of deliverable items should have the highest priority. Increasing the market for our service will give us a larger and more diverse customer base, allowing us to generate more revenue over longer periods of time. It would also allow for better customer satisfaction by giving them access to more items, which aligns with our core values.
