A Reference that formalizes an Association Relationship is called an association reference.

Here there are two possible forms. In the simple case, a single Simple Association Reference in one Class refers to the Identifier at the opposing Perspective.

If the Association is formalized by an Association Class, the Association Class houses two Association Class References. With an asymmetric Association, each refers to the Identifier on a separate Perspective. With a symmetric Association, each Reference will refer to the same Identifier on the only available Perspective.
