An icon rendered on the Diagram on one end of a Stem.

Since the End attribute takes on only two values, it effectively limits the number of instances with the same Stem and Connector values to two. And this is why R61 has many multiplicity on the association.

An Stem Icon can be displayed either at the root or vine end of a Stem. For example, a solid dot icon is drawn at the vine end of a to initial state Stem Position whereas a hollow arrow head is drawn at the root end of that very same Stem Position.
