To be able to receive the latest development snapshot from the Play Store you have to become an alpha tester.

How to become an alpha tester

1. Join the Google group K-9 Mail Alpha Testers
2. Click Become a Tester
3. Download K-9 Mail from the Play Store
4. Give us feedback
   • To discuss new features or ask for help post to the K-9 Mail Alpha Testers mailing list
   • Use our bug tracker to report bugs. Don't forget to include the version number!

Of course if you don't want to use the Play Store you can always download development snapshots from the Download section of K-9 Mail's Google Code site.
