Dark Army Resurrection

Something went wrong with the ritual that awakened Link, maybe Zelda said the wrong words, who knows, the fact is that the Dark Army has been awakened.

I'm Miirkuz, a mod creator for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with 3 years experience and Dark Army Resurrection is my main project.

With more than 2 years of developing and more than 40.000 downloads, DAR has become pretty popular even because some of the most important streamers have been playing with DAR for months.

This mod add tons of unique features to the original game like a Dynamic Skill System based on collecting Souls, Random Locked Chests System, Random Spawning Enemies, lots of Unique Weapons, Punitive Death, Punitive Blood Moon, Replayable Divine Beasts and many many more.

The thing that makes this mod unique is the fact that you can customize it using more than 100 options and some of them are selectable in game through a Campfire Menu!

Most of the changes are explained at length in the Install Options page or on the Campfire Options page.

Join Dark Army Resurrection Discord Server to get full support, updates, beta versions, troubleshooting and more.

This mod require a specific procedure to be installed correctly, so make sure to take a look on How To Install

Enemies

This mod adds a random enemy spawning mechanic, allowing for more random encounters with Guardians, Hinox, Talus, and Lynels. Stal enemies have been completely reworked. There's now a resurrection mechanic, in which there's a random chance that they will come back as a Stal instead of staying dead. This can happen to Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and Hinox. Stal Lynels have been added and they will spawn at night, and drop Magical Weapons. A new rank has been introduced, Malice Enemies. Those enemies are the strongest, meaning that they have high hp, resistance to elemental attacks, they cannot be stunned and their attacks deals lots of damage so be prepared to face them or run away. Malice Enemies will randomly spawn during days of full moon and new moon. Ancient Arrows won't vanish enemies, just regular stals.

There's now a tier system of Stal enemies, indicated by their horn color and eyes.

  • Yellow horn and eyes, Junior enemies (weakest).
  • Orange horn and eyes, Middle enemies.
  • Red horn and eyes, Senior enemies.
  • Blue horn and eyes, Cursed enemies.
  • Green horn and eyes, Gold enemies.
  • Purple horn and eyes, High rank Stals (strongest).

As you complete Divine Beasts, like in the base game, the Enemies Level Up and get stronger. The same things happen to the Stals. Along with that, their likelihood of Resurrecting increases with their level.

Custom Enemies have been added to improve gameplay variety and challenge level. Here is a list of all custom enemies:

  • Stal Lynels - they will randomly spawn during nights and they gonna be equipped with Magical Weapons
  • Elemental Keese Swarms - they will randomly spawn during nights, depending on your location
  • Elemental Yigas - they will randomly spawn from the begin of the game, first one at a time, then as the Calamity Level increases, you can find group of 2 or 3 Yigas and Elemental Yigas which will be equipped with unique Elemental Weapons
  • Wizzrobes reworked - Wizzrobes will cast Elemental Stal Heads and Elemental Keese Swarms

The Bosses and Divine Beasts are also much stronger. Bosses HP has been doubled, they have more resistance, and take less damage from their weak points. Along with that, there's now more enemies inside Divine Beasts.

Weapons

This mod also changes some of the mechanics around weapons in the game. 3X weapons durability. Swords, Large Sword and Spears now have triple durability, based on Hyrule Rebalanced values; Bows and Shields have standard durability; Rods now have even less durability. Along with that, Weapons no longer break on being thrown. Wooden Weapons don't burn, but stay on fire to keep the elemental damage. Stals and regular enemies will also be equipped with territorial weapons, for example if you are in the Gerudo Desert you gonna find Stals and regular enemies equipped with Gerudo weapons.

Along with that, the mod adds 23 New Standalone Weapons with special powers.

There are now 3 Elemental Bows, one each for Fire, Ice, and Electric. They shoot 9 elemental arrows, instead of 3, and can be found on Stal Lynels at night.

The Whip Sword has been added to the game. This weapon is the "Sword of the Creator" from the Fire Emblem Series. The Original Mod was created by Moonling. This weapon is extremely effective against Stal Enemies. This weapon has a chance of dropping from Stal enemies.

The Lynel Axe is an effective weapon against Lynels, dealing 4x damage.

New Magical Weapons with unique powers, usually equipped by Stal Lynels. Here is a list of all Magical Weapons:

  • Gerudo Scimitar Shocking Thunder, cast a Thunder that will shocks all close enemies.
  • Moonlight Scimitar Shocking Thunder Field, cast a Thunder Ball that remains still and will shock and damage all enemies in the close area.
  • Golden Claymore Big Shocking Thunder Field, cast a Thunder Ball that remains still and will shock and damage all enemies in the close area (bigger range).
  • Gerudo Spear Shocking Thunder Ball, throw a Thunder Ball that will shock and damage all enemies close to it.
  • Cobble Crusher Burning Fire Field, cast a Fire field that will burn all enemies and objects in the close area.
  • Stone Smasher Big Burning Fire Field, cast a Fire field that will burn all enemies and objects in the close area (bigger range).
  • Drillshaft Burning Fire Ball, throw a Fireball that will burn and damage hitted enemies
  • Zora Sword Freezing Ice Field, cast an Ice field that will freeze all enemies in the close area.
  • Silver Long Sword Big Freezing Ice Field, cast an Ice field that will freeze all enemies in the close area (bigger range).
  • Zora Spear Freezing Ice Ball, throw an Iceball that will freeze all enemies close to it.
  • Silverscale Spear Big Freezing Ice Ball, Throw an Iceball that will freeze all enemies close to it (bigger range).
  • Feathered Edge Wind Power, everytime you attack with this sword you'll generate wind that stun small enemies (like Korok Leaf).
  • Feathered Spear Wind Power, everytime you attack with this sword you'll generate wind that stun small enemies (like Korok Leaf).

Saving System

This mod also adds in the option to Disable Manual Saving and Autosaves. What this means is you can ONLY save at Campfires, Inns, and Sleeping in beds. Autosave will be made in Dungeons and Divine Beasts. This also creates Checkpoints, which leads into the Death System.

Punitive Death

When you die, you lose all Souls, one level of your Skills, Chest Keys, Shiekah Batteries, and all rupees (optional), also all Enemies will be revived and you respawn at the nearest checkpoint.

To prevent this you need to collect Red Stars dropped by Enemies. Depending on the Calamity Level, you may need 1 to 3 Red Stars to protect your Skills and Souls.

You can select what kind of indicator is shown, Death Counter or Health. You also have an option to don't lose rupees on death.

This is the ultimate Souls mechanic.

Punitive Moon

This works similarly to how Punitive Death works, but it's not as harsh. Every time a Blood Moon occurs, you'll lose all Souls, one level of your Skills, Chest Keys, Sheikah Batteries and Fairies. However, you do not lose your rupees. Enemies still respawn as normal.

To prevent this you need to collect Red Stars dropped by Enemies. Depending on the Calamity Level, you may need 1 to 3 Red Stars to protect your Skills and Souls.

Of course those penalities won't apply during Panic Moons.

Prohibitions System

Prohibitions System is a new and unique System based on disable some actions under certain situation.

For example you cannot enter in dungeons or activate panels when enemies are around, or you cannot eat or warp while you are fighting, this means that you need to use more strategies before starting a fight.

Everytime a prohibition is on, an indicator with DAR logo showing a Death Counter is shown, so until you see this indicator, you cannot do certain actions.

There are several Prohibitions and they are all selectable from the Campfire Menu. You'll find all Prohibitions details here.

Chests System

This mod adds 4 new systems to Chests, to make chest rewards more challenging and dynamic.

Chests contents can now be randomly generated. As you complete more Divine Beasts, your rewards get better.

Gamble Chests is a new optional chests system where basically chests have the chance to give you from 1 to 3 random items but there is a 12,5% probability that the chest gonna be empty! There are not gonna be any empty chests inside Shrines and Divine Beasts.

There's a new Locked Chest mechanic. Chests now require a key to unlock them. Without a key, a chest cannot be unlocked.

Chest Keys can be found inside barrels, boxes, and by killing some enemies. You can also buy Chest Keys from Beedle.

You can carry a maximum of 10 keys.

Chests that contain required content, like keys, have not been changed.

Second Wind Compatibility Patch adds in support for those chests added in the mod. Champion Weapon chests have also been protected, along with the chests in the Shrine of Resurrection.

By default as you progress through the game, the contents of the Randomized Chests get better, however you can choose to have the chance to get all items from the beginning (including Master Cycle, Bow of Light, Ancient Champions Weapons, Champions Weapons and so on) by choosing "Full Random Chests" in the Install Options.

Skill Souls System

This system is to make the player grow stronger as they progress through the game. This system comes in 4 parts: Ancient Souls, Ancient Giant Souls, Temporary Skills and Permanent Skills. You need to collect 3 Souls of the same kind in order to get a Skill Level upgrade.

Souls and Skills - Video Tutorial

To reach Level 1 (or Level 2 if you have completed the Divine Beast obtaining a permanent Skill), you'll need to collect 3 Ancient Souls of the same skill instead of just 1. For example to reach Sword Skill Level 1 you'll need to collect 3 Sword Ancient Souls. Ancient Souls are dropped by Bokoblin, Lizalfos, Moblins, Yigas and Wizzrobes.

To reach Level 2 (or Level 3 if you have completed the Divine Beast obtaining a permanent Skill), you'll need to collect 3 Ancient Giant Souls of the same skill instead of just 1, and you need to unlock the previous skill level. For example to reach Sword Skill Level 2 you'll need to collect 3 Sword Ancient Giant Souls, and you need to unlock Sword Skill Level 1 collecting 3 Sword Ancient Giant Souls. Ancient Giant Souls are dropped by Lynels, Hinox, Talus and Moldugas.

However, after completing Divine Beasts you gain Permanent Skill Upgrades, depending on the Divine Beast. Completing Divine Beasts will unlock a permanent Level 1 Skill for the respective weapon:

  • Defeating Master Kohga will unlock a permanent Level 1 Sheikah Skill. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Sheikah Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Sheikah Skill.

  • Divine Beast Vah Ruta will unlock a permanent Level 1 Skill with Spears. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Spear Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Spear Skill.

  • Divine Beast Vah Naboris will unlock a permanent Level 1 skill with Small Swords. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Small Swords Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Small Swords Skill.

  • Divine Beast Vah Rudania will unlock a permanent Level 1 skill with Large Swords. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Large Swords Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Large Swords Skill.

  • Divine Beast Vah Medoh will unlock a permanent Level 1 skill with Shields and Bows. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Bow Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Bow Skill. Getting 3 Ancient Souls will increase it to a Level 2 Shield Skill, while 3 Ancient Giant Souls will increase it to a Level 3 Shield Skill.

You can also buy Souls from Kilton.

Punitive Death and Punitive Blood Moon will destroy all your temporary souls collected and you'll lose 1 level for each skill, unless you have a Red Star, in this case your souls and your skills will be saved. Red Stars are magical artifact that will be destroyed in place of your Souls and Skills, protecting them. At the begining you can hold a maximum of 3 Red Stars, then you can upgrade this limit from Hestu. Red Stars are dropped by Bokoblin, Lizalfos, Moblins, Yigas, Wizzrobes Lynels, Hinox, Talus and Moldugas. You can also buy Red Stars from Beedle. This will enhance the experience with the Soul System which will be based on farming souls, promoting fights.

Check also Combat System for a detailed list on available skills.
