Welcome to the MeshBox wiki!
MeshBox is a retro style ghetto blaster with modern capabilities.
- It is based on the latest Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB RAM edition).
- Audio is brought to life, in very high quality, by using amplifier hat HiFiBerry Amp2 and Focal RCX-130 car speakers.
- Visualization is done on a Waveshare 5 inch display, HDMI, 800x480 resolution.
- The software engine which was chosen to power the MeshBox is Kodi, via the latest version of LibreElec distro.
All hardware is assembled in a sturdy case made of solid wood (18mm thickness), built in house, which significantly contributes to the overall quality of the sound.
The functions of the MeshBox can be controlled in various ways:
- Rotary encoders + Push buttons
- USB Remote control - all types will work as long as they are USB HID compliant
- Any USB keyboard + mouse combo
Control via display's touchscreen is currently not available because there is no driver support from the manufacturer for LibreElec, only for Raspbian. In order to make this functionality available for the MeshBox, I will try, in the future, to port the touchscreen driver from Raspbian to LibreElec.
