CDF Management - metxchris/TRANSVIZ GitHub Wiki

Begin by loading a CDF using the file menu in the upper menu-bar, as shown below:

Loading a CDF

A confirmation message will appear in green along the top of the TRANSVIZ window once the CDF has been successfully loaded. Also, note that the CDF shot number appears within the Active CDF drop-down menu located at the top-right of the TRANSVIZ window:

Active CDF menu

The Active CDF menu will allow you to manage variables from multiple CDF files at the same time; only the active CDF is referenced whenever a new variable is entered into one of the six variable entry boxes, located along the right-hand side of the TRANSVIZ window.

As an example, we can plot the electron density NE from each of the three different Run Id's displayed in the previous image. In order to do this, we activate each of the three CDF's within the Active CDF menu in succession, where we load the NE variable for each CDF into a separate entry box:

Plotting from multiple CDF's

The Run Id for each plotted variable will appear in the legend of the plot, and the color of the line will correspond to the color of the plus symbol '+' located to the right of each loaded entry box. Additionally, the CDF information for each loaded variable can be accessed by simply mousing-over each entry box, as shown above.

TRANSVIZ currently supports up to twenty different CDF's loaded during a single instance. There is currently no implementation to remove a loaded CDF from memory, so you will need to restart the program if this limitation becomes an issue.
