CR 1.9 Add METSID attribute to mets - mets/METS-board GitHub Wiki
The <mets> @OBJID attribute was recently clarified on the METS list as referring to an identifier for the digital object, and not the METS file that represents it. While these are one and the same in many environments, in others they are not. I believe METS would benefit from a place to put an identifier for the METS document itself.
One solution proposed on list was a @METSID attribute on the <mets> element, although at Indiana University we'd probably be OK with a different solution as well.

Since the metsHdr is for metadata about the mets document, I am wondering if this would be an appropriate place for the proposed new identifier for the mets document. Maybe as an element? <metsID> or maybe <metsDocID> ?
