iPres 2024 poster submission

Tobias: Shouldn't need to repeat last iPres' inputs. Textual approach? Graphical approach: main constructs as in primer, a couple of larger examples to highlight the differences between version 1 and 2. Columns listing the main changes. Aaron: We should be able to have the presentation running on a larger screen. The poster could be several slides: a first slide with the main aspects of METS, second slide with the (new) resources available like the XSLT, the new primer etc.. Karin: Need to provide a recording (presentation with audio commentary). Until next meeting, we don't need the poster, but a description of what will be on the poster. Juha: Less is more, don't put too much details.

Goal of the poster:

  • Give an overview of METS in general – METS is still relevant.
  • Convince people that it is worth migrating/implementing METS 2: main changes.
  • Show the improved documentation, tools and resources for version 2, such as revised primer, profiles.

We'll be working on the template that Karin prepared as a Google doc, Aaron will arrange for a check-in meeting before the next regular meeting.

METS2

Primer

  • Chapter 1 could be kept as is, has already been reviewed.
  • We should break up chapter 2 into different pages, which would also allow to split chapter 3 and link from various locations of former chapter 2.
  • Chapter 4ff. Could be split into separate pages as well.
  • The primer should not describe all possible attributes and their usage, but rather link to these details in the schema documentation.

Profiles

Aaron: worked through the schema things, should be ok. Trying to find time for https://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/profile_docs/components.html – will put it into our Github repository.
