Draft of METS 2

The name of the new version is METS 2. "Light" should no longer be used as name for it. METS 2 is the new version that will be the new standard, while METS 1 is still available although there will be no more maintenance for it.

There are now two empty documents in the Google Drive folder for the White Paper and for a new Primer. The White Paper should describe the motivation for the new version and the changes with code examples. It should also be pointed out which changes break the compatibility with METS 1 and how METS 1 code could be transformed to METS 2. The Primer should be targeted at new METS users and introduce METS on basis of METS 2. It is not yet decided where and when the papers will be published.

The first draft of the new schema by Aaron is available in its own branch in GitHub (https://github.com/mets/METS-schema/compare/mets2). It is not clear if all planned changes are already included. Brian wanted to test the schema with a few files.

Everyone could add text two the White Paper and Primer.

iPRES 2021

Karin was asked by the iPRES 2021 people if our tutorial submission of last year still stands. We don't think the submission needs to be changed. METS 2 will not be published until the iPRES and a first overview of the planned changes could be part of the already submitted agenda. So Karin will answer that we re-submit the tutorial as it is. Probably none of the METS board members will be at the iPRES in Beijing, so the tutorial will be done online. There will be no additional paper submission about METS 2. It is too early for that.
