The Export To JSON function saves the current mapview to JSON and removes the database connections.

Make sure a Map is visible, this map will be exported. If you have multiple maps in your project, open the map you wish to export from the Catalog Pane Click Export to JSON The database connections will be loaded from ArcGIS Enterprise. When you are not logged in to ArcGIS Enterprisem you are prompted to login:

A Save window will appear. Select an existing file to overwrite or create a new file.

Click Save to save the map to JSON

When the JSON contains a database connection which is not present in ArcGIS Enterprise, the database connection will be removed from the JSON and a warning will be shown.
