On Gauna ceremony

The Gauna ceremony is a ceremony that is mainly held in the northern states of India. It probably emerged out of the common child marriages, when the children did neither enter puberty nor were ready to lead their own household. For that reason, after the wedding the wife remained at their parents until the Gauna ceremony was performed, which meant the husbands familiy takes over responsibility and care of the wife. On height of Indian people

According to wikipedia, the average size of an Indian male is 166.3cm and 152.6cm for women. There are different opinions on how body size affects your health. This TIMES article states that in general a large body may increase and decrease some risks, but in total the relevance of body size is very low. In Shorter height is related to lower cardiovascular disease risk – A narrative review by Thomas T. Samaras these facts are clarified. Here the shortness of Indian children is explained by Indian families favoring their first born son in comparison to younger siblings and especially females. In this Indian Times Article a new trend of taller children in India is observed (and taller adults). It also confirms that environmental and life condition play a much larger role in growth in comparison to genes. To conclude, from a low height we can probably derive bad living conditions.
