Silverfall Mine - mcculzac/brouwer GitHub Wiki
Located Northwest of Norwich. There's a long winding switchback dirt road going up the hillside, wide enough for two wagons to pass each other abreast, the way is treacherous with loose soil and rocks. Following the path all the way up reveals a gaping hole in the hillside, illuminated by torches (sometimes) and propped up by wooden braces. Entering reveals a slow winding downward path with a couple side rooms including an eating room with a small kitchenette attached, an equipment room (includes enclosed flame oil lanterns and other miner gear like wagons), and a bird room with various canaries in small cages. There's also a locked gate behind which is some unprocessed ore. Ore is brought down the hillside in wagons to be processed in town by large ore furnaces a little outside town.
Continuing down, the slope increases and starts to become rockier, and now has forks. Occasionally a path is boarded up, and the mine is lit on the main areas, but as you get to less populated areas they become dark and less explored. It is a mostly naturally occurring cave system that is being mined out with people sent in deep to find silver. In large groups (10-20) with closed flame most creatures don't bother, but when there is no one in the mine or only a few creatures, there are creatures.
Use the walls being mined to say it's traveled, and not mined to suggest it's unexplored. One path looks well traveled with wheelbarrow marks in the ground, but not mined. Leads to small processing area of lyrium.
Traps: Kobold territory is attached that have murder hole hallways, dead ends that can be flooded (break dammed up underground pond), explosive gas that reacts to open flames. Other traps include collapsing supports, poisonous gas (canaries react to), fall pit (ground crumbles beneath, you fall into a pit essentially). Of course super dark is a big one.
Monsters: Kobolds, Gelatinous Cube, Stirges (large number with double base speed) Loot: Silver ore that can be mined, gold on kobolds/weapons, the mining equipment.
