Plans

They are chilling in the Hurrying Colt, where it's very busy, loud and raucus despite being 3p. They have an hour or two before the caravan can unload everything. If they chill, they see the drivers enter the tavern around 3:20. They get to chill while the caravans real contents are unloaded in a warehouse. They won't even bother replacing the gourds, just leave them but remove the contents of the box (lyrium bags).

If they talk to people they'll learn a lot of them are minors and while it's not the safest job, they have good benefits, well paid, random days off, etc. They have the day off bc??? HAVE a dude come in and say the road isn't safe, there's a large fire and while it should burn down no one should go for the day. At night they're attacked by LIVING SHADES (https://www.5esrd.com/gamemastering/monsters-foes/monsters-by-type/fey/living-shade/) which don't attack the inn, rather they hear shouts and alarm and confusion. People running, waking up, the wrong way, screams, a small fire is set to one of the houses and some of the villagers have to be calm and douse it. Miner Boss Korvak! is a character they might see putting stuff out. Improv until they seem to help aid people. If Kass is being edgy, have him attacked by two living shades. Have one of the drivers killed (named Jorge). If they make friends with any of the workers in the tavern, have them save/fail to save him and he'll give money. If players slow/fuck it up, have some of the wagons be burned with reduced reward. Can escort the drivers on foot back to the city. If they decide to stay they hear of trouble in the mine (let them THINK that's where the shades come from), and they can face flavored kobolds!! Have option to be silvered weapons here. One trap is explosive gas that ignites from open flame. Little holes at the top of a small area that the boys can shoot ranged weapons while having 3/4 cover. Fake health potions. A boarded up underground pool that can be opened to flood lower cave of adventurers.

On the journey back the fires have devastated large swaths of land but then just STOPPED at some point untouched (more powerful fae?).
