Sanitation Garages are the hubs from which the New York City Department of Sanitation manages its work. Sanitation Garages appear to roughly correspond to Sanitation-Districts, though some garages consolidate more than one district and some garages appear to be special purpose garages like vehicle repair shops.

Like other Department of Sanitation spatial data they will be commonly referred to as "DSNY Garages," pronounced "Dee-Ess-En-Why Garages."

Sanitation Garages are point features. They do change from time to time, with new garages created to consolidate or replace aging garages or to relocate garages away from residential areas.

This dataset appears to include all Sanitation Garages. Some of the garages don't appear on the Department of Sanitation's garage location page (https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/dsny/site/about/dsny-garage-locations) and have names like "SI01G/SI03G (Future)" or "SI01 Annex".
