Atomic Polygons are the smallest polygon shapes in the Citywide Street Centerline (CSCL) database. Atomic polygons are typically formed by the intersection of street segments. People and algorithms at city agencies use collections of atomic polygons to form better-known geographies like Election Districts and School Districts.
The Department of City Planning publishes Atomic Polygons to NYC Open Data and to Bytes of the Big Apple on the same cycle as other releases, so you will see a release number like "21A" that indicates the first release of 2021.
