How to set-up your motorized curtains, the description included was not made for beginners so here's how i'm doing it, including adding it to HA and controlling it using the MQTT broker we set up earlier.

You will need a couple of things before beginning

NodeMCU flasher https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-flasher A win32 / win64 tool with an already compiled .exe to run.

ESplorer https://esp8266.ru/esplorer/ direct download link: http://esp8266.ru/esplorer-latest/?f=ESPlorer.zip (if it changes, the link is at the main page)

Firmware https://nodemcu-build.com/ add the following modules: file, GPIO, MQTT, net, node, PWM, timer, WiFi

Flashing the firmware

Open the nodemcu-flasher (Drive:\nodemcu-flasher-master\Win64\Release\ESP8266Flasher.exe) Go to advanced and change baudrate to 115200 go to config and click the "wheel" and locate your firmware you receieved from nodemcu-build.com via email Mine is called "nodemcu-master-8-modules-2017-03-10-17-15-00-float.bin" Connect your NodeMCU ESP8266 to your computer via USB. Install firmware if needed, should be automatic on windows Go to Operation and choose the COM port which it is connected to (can be found in device manager under "ports (COM & LPT) and will probably be named something like "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM7), its the COM part you need. Press Flash(F)

Wait for it to finish then disconnect, close the flash software and reconnect your ESP8266 to the USB cable. After being reconnected, wait a minute for the device to restart, it's a bit slow and had me struggeling with re-flashing a couple of times before being able to use it. Connecting with ESplorer

Run the ESplorer.jar In the right window, top dropdown list, choose your COM port (COM7 for me) In the dropdown list next to open choose the baudrade 115200 and click Open, wait a short while and it will connect (up to 20seconds)
