Fix Bluetooth pairing issues - marseausylvius/Ledger-Device-Fixes-and-Solutions GitHub Wiki

Most Bluetooth issues can be resolved by simply turning Bluetooth off and then back on again in the device settings, resetting the pairing, and trying again.

When setting up a Bluetooth connection, ensure that no coin/nano app is open and remain on the dashboard of your device.

Note: We don’t recommend pairing your Ledger device with an iPad or tablet. While you can install Ledger Live on these devices, it is not optimized for tablets. Learn more.

If the issue persists and your Ledger device cannot be found by your smartphone, please carefully follow the instructions below.

Please download the last update of Ledger Live Application:

Troubleshooting starts at 6:44.

Before you begin

  • Make sure you are using the latest Ledger Live Mobile version available.
  • Ensure your Ledger device runs the latest OS (firmware) version here.
  • Ensure you have enabled Bluetooth on your Ledger device.
  • If you’re on Android 11 or earlier, ensure location services are enabled for Ledger Live. Note that Ledger Live never uses your location information, Android 11 and earlier just required location services to be enabled for any app that wanted to scan for Bluetooth devices.

Troubleshooting

Step 1. Have the latest Ledger Live and firmware

  1. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your Ledger Nano X. Update Nano X firmware.
  2. Make sure you have the latest Ledger Live Mobile installed on your smartphone. Check the App Store or Google Play for updates.
  3. Verify if your smartphone complies with the requirements of Nano X:
    • iOS: Apple iOS 15 or later.
    • Android: Android 10 or later.

Step 2. Reset pairings on the Ledger device

  1. Turn on and unlock your Ledger device.
  2. Hold both buttons to access the Control Center.
  3. Navigate to Settings and press both buttons.
  4. Press the right button then press both buttons to access the Security menu.
  5. Press both buttons to validate Reset pairings.
  6. Confirm Reset pairings once more and enter your PIN code.

Step 3. Remove your device from Ledger Live

  1. Open Ledger Live on your smartphone.
  2. Go to My Ledger.
  3. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) next to your Ledger Nano X and tap the red Remove device button.

Step 4. Forget the Ledger device on your smartphone

These steps can differ slightly based on the make and model of your smartphone. The following steps apply to most devices, but your device may call these menus something slightly different.

  1. Open the Settings of your smartphone.
  2. Open the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Search for your Ledger device in the list and tap on it.
  4. Remove the device from the list. Typically this is labeled Unpair or Forget.

Step 5. Retry pairing your device

  1. Turn on and unlock your Ledger device. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled in the Control Center on the device.
  2. Open Ledger Live and start the pairing process.
  3. Tap on your Ledger device once it’s available in Ledger Live.
  4. In a few moments, a pairing code will be displayed on both devices.
  5. If the codes are the same, confirm the pairing on your smartphone, and press both buttons on your Ledger device to confirm the pairing.
  6. Press both buttons to Allow the Secure Connection with Ledger Manager. The pairing is complete after the authenticity of your Ledger device has been checked by Ledger’s secure server.
