The Setting
This particular game of Adventure Pals takes place in a bog-standard Heroic Fantasy setting. There's a Kingdom, with a City, a Mysterious Forest where the elves live, Frosty Mountains full of dwarven drinking halls, etc. There's Magic and Swords and Dragons and Bickering Gods and Undead Terrors and Chainmail Bikinis On Everyone, Including The Orcs. Especially The Orcs.
Most of this will be fleshed out as we actually play the game.
Local species
Humans make up the majority population of the local Kingdom, with notable communities of halflings. There are dwarven lands and elven forests nearby, with vibrant diaspora populations of both. Dragonborn - dragon-like lizard people - are rare, but there are occasional travelers and traders.
The nearby antagonistic realm is one populated by orcs & goblins. They're not evil, just from a culture that's been politically at odds with the human's for a long time. There's a reasonable number of them present in the Kingdom, though they're sometimes viewed with suspicion if they're in large groups.
There's also a range of other minor species befitting a fantasy setting: gnomes, kobolds, fauns, trolls, and so on; and there's a range of cultural norms within each group.
