Primer

Author: Pari & PieSauce

This build focuses primarily on pure storm, thus, gathering as much Lightning Penetration and Raw Damage Percentages as you can to create the ultimate one shot. If you are looking to faceroll your keyboard with the highest damage you can possibly muster up, then this build may be for you!

Primary Damage Source

  • Charged Sweep + Electrical Discharge

Defensive Mechanism

  • Mana Battery (reduces damage by expending Mana)
  • Spell Lifesteal
  • Health or Magic Shield

Stats

For maximum damage output:

  • Pure Intelligence

Masteries

  • Primary: Storm
  • Secondary: Divine or Unholy

You mostly play at a melee to mid-range with this build and really only have two active damage spells to rely on: Charged Sweep and Electrical Discharge. For this build and the stats used to scale, those two spells are just the best bang for the buck. You have the respective passives that will ultimately boost your damage up, such as: Lightning Essence and Static Field.

Eventually, at level 30, you can unlock Power Surge and Quick Charge. This buff scales well for raw damage while the latter gives you more Cooldown Reduction but Increases Mana Cost. At level 40, take Stray Currents for Power Surge. Your Storm core spells that are maxed should be: Lightning Essence, Charged Sweep, Static Field, Quick Charge, Power Surge, and Stray Currents. Electrical Discharge is maxed only for convenience later, so it is not a priority for now.

Optionally: Drop Quick Charge in favor of Static.

Level 70 Storm + Divine Trees

In the Divine tree, you would only grab Wizardry buff for further boosts to your stats and some extra Cooldown Reduction. Optionally, you can grab Charge for a dash spell. This is purely used for free fireworks to power Elytra flight.

Level 70 Storm + Unholy Trees

Alternatively, you can opt into Unholy rather than Divine if you wish for a stronger secondary tree. You have an early heal via Unholy Meditation, while Flesh & Mind Sacrifice offers a massive boost in damage at the cost of some defensive survivability.

Talent Tree

  • Starting at the top side of the map as we will be rushing for Power Overwhelming for an early damage boost
  • Next, for some survivability and extra damage, we path up towards Mana Battery grabbing Mana, Lightning Penetration, and Spell Damage nodes along the way
  • Then to offset the losses of Mana Battery, we grab Harmony to replenish ourselves
  • Eventually, we continue on the top right to grab the large cluster of Spell Damage nodes for Lightning damage, we grab the Frost Spell Damage out of necessity to reach the Lightning Spell Damage; also grabbing the Spell Lifesteal for extra survivability
  • At late game we eventually go down from Harmony towards Elemental Purity and Steady Hand for maximum output for raw damage

Equipment

  • Early on, you’ll want to find or make equipment that has good Mana and Spell Damage. Maybe some Mana Regen as the mana usage is heavy when in early game. This build is practically a glass cannon ‘all-or-nothing’ while having Mana Battery as an insurance in case you do manage to get hit.
  • Best in Slot (BiS) for this build will be anything that has Lightning Penetration with Spell Damage as a bonus.
  • The ideal equipment to make this build flourish are Unique items such as:
    • Thundersight (Head)
    • Shirt of the Arcane (Chest) – This has innate Mana Battery attached to it, we grab the extra Mana Battery for the Mana nodes behind it; only one effect applies.
    • Thunderstorm Priest’s Boots (Shoes)
  • The best runeword for this build is Magician [Dos + Ano + Xah + Rah] and a standalone rune would be Wor for Lightning Penetration.

What To Do After

The player who submitted this build one-shots everything and anything within a 5m radius around themselves. With only two active damaging spells, your options are limited. However, that means nothing if everything dies from one hit. So long as you continue to aim for Lightning Penetration and Lightning Spell Damage, you will be golden.
