Mine & Slash - mahjerion/Craft-to-Exile-2 GitHub Wiki

This section of the wiki is a bit out of date. We have plans to update it at a later time, perhaps when the pack is out of beta as right now things are changing at a pretty fast pace. If you have any questions about Mine & Slash please feel free to ask them in our Discord.

Introduction to Mine and Slash

Mine and Slash, the centerpiece mod of Craft to Exile 2, overhauls the Minecraft combat gameplay by adding an ARPG-like character customization system, spells to suit the warrior/archer/mage playstyles alongside randomized loot in the form of weapons, armors and other types of equipment to bolster and differentiate character builds.

Attributes

You can view your current attributes on the mine and slash hub page. To increase either of these 3 stats, you'll need to level up and choose an attribute to level it up by 1, select the right nodes on the talent screen, or wear equipment that increases those attributes.

Attributes have their own unique strengths, and they also determine what gear you can equip.

Strength increases weapon damage, health regeneration and armor. Since everyone has health and all skills scale with weapon damage, everyone can benefit somewhat from strength. Swords, axes, spears, shields and plate armor require some amount of strength investment to use.

Leveling dexterity increases energy, energy regeneration and dodge rating. Energy is consumed with all basic attacks and bow/crossbow attacks. It is also consumed when holding your shield up. You will always be using both mana to cast and energy to basic attack. Bows, crossbows, spears, daggers, totems, and leather armor require some amount of dexterity investment to use.

Leveling intelligence increases mana, mana regen and magic shield. Staves, daggers, tomes and cloth armor require some amount of intelligence investment to use.

Note that because the dodge rating and magic shield increases from dexterity and intelligence and talents are % based, you will need a flat amount of those stats from gear in order for those increases to have any effect.

Talents

Talents are a big part of customizing your character. They are invested into by using the talent tree, which lets you select several different small upgrades (and occasionally big ones) one at a time.

The talent tree may appear intimidating at first, but once you've selected one of the 6 starter talents your choices will be much more limited and easier to choose.

There are "game changer" talents you can select that are meant to have your character built around, since they provide a large, generally specific bonus while also hurting your character's stats elsewhere.

There are also "jewel socket" talent points that allow you to equip jewels into the jewel slots in the mine and slash hub menu.

Favor

image
Your favor can be viewed by hovering over the symbol at the top of the mine and slash hub menu. There are 2 tiers of favor, epic and mythic. Epic is any level of favor under 250, providing the default loot chance and only allowing you to find unique, common, uncommon, rare and epic gear (epic gear requires a player level of 10 to be discovered). Favor increases at a rate of 25 points for every 3 minutes passed, and it also increases by 10 points every time you open a new chest that your world generated (meaning not placed by you or other players). Once you reach 250 favor, your experience and loot are increased by 5%, and legendary and mythic gear can appear (so long as you've reached player level 25 or 50 respectively).

However, your character loses 125 favor upon death, meaning you'll want to be careful not to recklessly leap into dangerous situations if you're looking to find some high-end gear.

Your favor can increase beyond 250, you'll only be able to increase it beyond this point by opening more chests, as the passive favor increase is disabled at 250 favor. However, having more than 250 favor offers no extra perks, it will just help mitigate the loss of favor upon death.

Gems

Gems provide bonuses to your gear when applied to gear with a "socket" label on it. Depending on the type of gear you socket the gem into, it will have different effects. They can be upgraded by right-clicking while holding 3 of the same gem type.

Jewels

Jewels can be slotted into the slots in the "Jewels" tab of the hub to provide bonuses. You'll need Jewel Socket talent nodes on the talent tree, however.

Salvaging

image The salvaging menu, located on the left of the mine and slash hub, allows you to customize what level of different types of loot you're no longer interested in, so as to turn them into useful stones. For example, setting auto salvage common gear to true means whenever you step over a piece of gear (or a soul) that is of common rarity, it will be instantly salvaged and turned into a common stone. These stones can normally only be obtained through salvaging and have their own uses through item recipes. They can also be used to repair gear without the use of an anvil or enchanting levels.

Rarity

"Rarity" is a term used to determine something's value in mine and slash: it applies to gear, skill gems and mobs. Generally, higher rarity mobs are harder to kill than their lower rarity counterparts but more worthwhile to kill because of their higher exp and loot rates.
